Accessibility statement

mySal is for everyone. We build and test the app to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, so you can work out your real number whatever device, assistive technology or settings you use.

What we've done

Full keyboard access

Every menu, form, calculator and dialog can be operated with the keyboard alone. Focus outlines are always visible, focus is trapped correctly inside dialogs, and a skip-to-content link appears on each page.

Screen-reader friendly

Pages use proper landmarks, one clear H1 and a logical heading order. Form fields have real labels, icons have text alternatives, and calculator results are announced as they change using live regions.

Contrast and colour

Text and interface colours meet the WCAG AA contrast ratios in both light and dark themes. We never use colour alone to convey meaning — errors, gains and losses always carry text or an icon too.

Text you can resize

Text can be zoomed to 200% and reflows to a single column at 320px wide without loss of content or functionality. We use relative units so your browser and device font settings are respected.

Comfortable targets and motion

Buttons and links meet the minimum target size, with generous spacing on mobile. Animation is decorative only and is reduced automatically when your device requests reduced motion.

Plain language

Tax and money wording is written in plain English, with jargon explained the first time it appears. Numbers are shown with clear units, currency and time periods.

Conformance status

mySal is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partially conformant means most of the app fully meets the standard, while a small number of areas are still being improved. Our core journeys — the salary calculator, the calculator toolkit, Academy lessons, Pulse insights and account settings — are tested against Level AA on every release.

We test with automated checks (axe-core) on every public route, plus manual keyboard walkthroughs and screen-reader spot checks using VoiceOver and NVDA.

Known limitations

  • Live market charts. Some charts in the Markets area are visual. Every chart has an accompanying table or text summary of the same figures.
  • Uploaded documents. Payslips and PDFs you upload come from third parties and may not themselves be accessible. We extract the key figures into accessible text wherever we can.
  • Third-party screens. Payment and bank-connection screens are provided by our partners and are outside our direct control.

If something on mySal is hard or impossible to use, we want to know — it helps us fix it for everyone. Email accessibility@mysal.life with the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. We aim to reply within 5 working days and to fix confirmed barriers as a priority. If you need any information from mySal in another format, ask us and we'll provide it.

This statement was last reviewed in July 2026 and is updated whenever we make significant changes to the app.
